What is Cellulite?

In simple terms, this is the result of toxic water that is surrounding your fat cells increasing and causing an uneven appearance. The appearance of cellulite can be made worse at times when mobility is reduced, this results in a decrease in circulation.

The orange peel effect or unevenness can also increase when dehydrated.  Occasionally fluctuations in hormones can also increase the appearance of cellulite. Have you ever notice that your cellulite is more visible at certain times of the month? The severity can also be based on genes so if your mother has bad cellulite its likely you will to!

What can you do to reduce the appearance of cellulite?

So we know that cellulite is the result of toxic water in the body building up around your fat cells, making the skin look uneven.  I have noticed that as I am not moving as much as I usually do it seems to be much more visible..Eek!

In order to reduce it you will need to increase the circulation in the area that has been effected.  There are several ways that this can be done and I will go through some of the methods that have been tired and tested.

 Dry Body Brushing

Using a skin brush on dry skin at the start of your day is a great way to increase blood flow and reduce the appearance of cellulite.  The best way to use a body brush is just before you hop into the shower.  Brush upwards from the feet and hands, across the buttocks and inwards across the abdomen, .  Cover each area 3 times. Avoid the chest area!

Using a body scrub on a regular basis will help to break down deposits in effected areas and speed up the removal of dead skin cells.  Salt, sugar or coffee are good bases for a body scrub.  The best time to use a body scrub is when the skin is slightly damp.  Use as part of your daily routine several times each week to help break down fatty deposits. Organic body scrubs can be purchased or you can simply create you own scrub very easily at home.

Aromatherapy Oils

Essential oils can penetrate easily into the skin and enter the bloodstream.  They will help to increase circulation in your problem areas and reduce the appearance of cellulite. You may also notice that the skin in the areas that you are treating will start to become much firmer. The Elemis Cellutox Body Oil is packed with essential oils that will encourage your body to detox.  This will lead to firmer, smoother more refined skin.

Exercise

Ensure that you are getting regular exercise.  Cardio is great for increasing your heart rate and getting your body into fat burning. It should be noted that exercise will not remove cellulite as the fat stores burnt in exercise are not in the same location but it will so towards limiting this issue in the future. Resistance training should also be added to increase your metabolism, whilst also firming and toning.

Hydrate

Drink plenty of water. Cellulite is more visible when you are dehydrated. Drinking lots of water helps to flush remove excess toxins from your system.  Add a slice of citrus to your water for favour and additional detoxifying benefits.
